...pragmatic understanding and the necessity for risk management, structured processes, and organisation on the other.

Before that, my diverse roles and training within my family's businesses have helped prepare me for these multifaceted pursuits. My roles here instilled in me the appreciation for the culture and ethos of family businesses, including the sense of responsibility towards both tangible and intangible assets in life.

Entrepreneurship is inherently associated with risks. However recognising, respecting, addressing, contextualising, and comprehending these risks are all imperative facets of entrepreneurial success.

Investing in startup companies is also very risky and can really only be done successfully with the some knowledge and understanding.

I truly want to make a meaningful contribution to this dynamic field.

My Bio

I was born in Hamburg, Germany in March 1970. Although both my parents are Dutch, we moved to Brussels when I was just six years old. It was there that I completed my entire school education in French.

At the age of 18, I made the move to London for a two-year management training program in C&A fashion retail. Following this, I pursued studies in European Business Administration in both the UK and Germany.

Much later, I further enriched my knowledge in this field by obtaining an MBA from Solvay Business School in Brussels. While my initial ambition was to learn Italian, it was Spanish that ultimately took its place as the fifth language in my repertoire.

With a diverse and dynamic career spanning various industries, I bring a wealth of experience to the table. I initially honed my skills in international fashion at C&A, gaining valuable insights into the global retail landscape. After my tenure at C&A, I took a leap, transitioning away from the family business which  in the mean time provided me with a deep understanding of the intricate workings of a family-owned enterprise.

Eager to forge my own path, I embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, establishing an online shop and catalogue specializing in travel accessories.

Subsequently, I joined PriceWaterhouseCoopers, as a management consultant in innovation and risk management. Before transitionning into the realm of sustainable energy consulting, focusing predominantly on Hydrogen and fuel cells at Hinicio. Here I played a role in shaping business ideas and public policies for a sustainable future.

As my career evolved, I found a new passion in nurturing startups. I assumed roles ranging from investor and board member to chairman and advisor in various emerging companies. This transition allowed me to leverage and sharpen my extensive expertise in entrepreneurship, governance, and growth strategies. For many years, I was active as a deal guide and trainer for BAN Flanders, one of the leading networks of Business Angels in Europe.

With a sharpened focus, I eventually narrowed my investment scope to B2B SAAS (Software as a Service) companies.

Today, my aspiration is to further build on my wealth of experience and expertise, contributing to the success and growth of startups through strategic guidance and investment. My journey continues to be marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a commitment to driving innovation in the business world.
